Local leader urges MAGGA to continue addressing challenges in schools

Group Village Head Chikololere of Dedza has urged the Malawi Girl Guides Association (MAGGA) to continue addressing challenges affecting the girl child in school.

Chikololere said this at Golomoti Ground in Senior Chief Kachindamoto’s area during the presentation of the Kachindamot K700,000 MAGGA Knockout Bonanza.

And Golomoti War Councillor, Gerson Dengu, appreciated interventions implemented by Malawi Girl Guides Association in reducing girl child problems in schools, adding that the government, through the district council, is on a mission to provide sanitary facilities in schools.

Chief Commissioner for MAGGA, Gertrude Binali Ndhlovu, said their organisation with support from UNFPA uses several approaches to create a conducive learning environment for girl child in schools.

Ndhlovu said they work with school-based structures such as mother groups to make sanitary pads for adolescent girls in safe spaces and parent-child communication approaches.
