Legislators tour Shire Valley Transformation Project site

The newly reconstituted Parliamentary Committee on Budget & Finance is visiting the project site for the Shire Valley Transformation Project in Chikwawa District.

The committee is visiting the project to appreciate the progress made, which is expected to help them understand the need to approve resource mobilisation as construction of an irrigation canal continues between Chikwawa and Nsanje.

The main objective of the Shire Valley Transformation Programme, which is in its second phase, is to increase agricultural productivity and commercialisation for targeted households in the Shire Valley and to improve the sustainable management and utilisation of natural resources.

The project is supported by the World Bank and the African Development Bank.
