Late Madise was an inspiration to women – Speaker

Speaker of the Parliament, Catherine Gotani Hara, has described the late Nyokase Madise as an inspiration to many successful Malawian women.

Hara was speaking at the burial ceremony of the veteran broadcaster at her home village Madise, Traditional Authority Mtwalo in Mzimba District.

Madise worked for the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) from 1964 to 1994 and used to host programmes such as “Your Choice” on MBC Radio One.

Among those present at the funeral were former Vice President Khumbo Kachale and former First Lady Patricia Shannil Dzimbiri.

The General Secretary for the CCAP Church’s Livingstonia Synod, Reverend William Tembo, said the late Madise will forever be remembered.

Professor Nyovani Madise, one of the deceased’s children, described her mother as a compassionate woman who raised her children with Christian values.

Madise, who died at age 85, was born on 30 April 1939 at Ekwendeni in Mzimba and had seven children.
