Member of Parliament for Dowa East constituency, Richard Chimwendo Banda, says government remains committed in ensuring Malawians have access to quality health services.
He said this on Wednesday at Kalinda in Senior Chief Chiwere in Dowa, when he commissioned the construction of Kalinda Health Post, to be financed by the Malawi Government.
“The government has committed to make sure there is a health facility at least every five kilometres, and we are excited that now people at Kalinda will have their own health facility,” he added.
Senior Group Kalinda thanked the government for the health post, saying this will help save lives.
Government is constructing three heath posts in the district, with the other two at Chibvala and Kalulu in Traditional Authority Nkukula, at a combined cost of around K2.829 billion.
Chief Quantity Surveyor in the Ministry of Health, Francis Chigalu, said at each health post, there will also be two modern houses.
The health facility will have three consultation rooms, stores, an office, waiting area, immunization room, antenatal room, drug store, an incinerator and waste management facility.
