Ministry of Gender is optimistic that the newly-operationalised National Children’s Commission will enhance the welfare and needs of children in the country.

Acting Director for Child Affairs in the Ministry of Gender, Justin Hamela, made the remarks in Lilongwe when Commissioners of the National Children’s Commission engaged stakeholders.

Hamela said they are hopeful that the commission will ensure coordination, collaboration and accountability among organisations working for the well-being of children in the country through the promotion and protection of their rights.

Commissioner Julia Chimuna of the commission said supporting programmes for children is an assurance that the country is investing in the future workforce, leaders and productive citizens.

She appealed for support from relevant stakeholders to assist the commission to effectively implement its mandate.
