Health and research experts in the country have described the One Health approach as a crucial strategy for dealing with emerging health issues.
One Health concept is an approach that looks at the inter-linkages between humans, animals and the environment and how these affect each other.
Speaking in Blantyre during a Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) First Postgraduate Symposium and International One Health Research Disseminating Conference, the Director of Research and Outreach at the university, Alfred Maluwa, said there is an urgent need for such an approach to mitigate threats to human health.
Janelisa Musaya, acting Deputy Director for the Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Programme, echoed Maluwa’s sentiments, saying collaboration is key in tackling emerging health issues effectively.
