The Catholic Church says the life lived by music icon, Lucius Banda is worth emulating.
Bishop Peter Musikuwa of Chikwawa dioceses made these remarks at the home of the late musician in Balaka during the mass that was conducted in his honour.
During the service the bishop described the late Lucius Banda as a man who lived by his name “Soldier”, as he consistently stood up for the oppressed and risked his life to fight various social ills and injustices, becoming a voice for the voiceless.
He also said Banda assisted many poor people and interacted with anyone regardless of their status in society.
He urged the gathering to keep the legacy of late music icon by emulating what he was doing during his lifetime.
The body of Lucius Banda will be laid to rest in Sosola village in the district.
