Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has appointed Thyolo Thava parliamentarian, Mary Thom Navicha, on the position of Leader of Opposition.
The party politburo has made the appointment at a meeting that has just ended in Mangochi.
Navicha has since confirmed of her appointment as the party’s chosen Leader of opposition in Parliament.
The development comes after Mulanje South West member of Parliament George Chaponda, who was earlier appointed by the party to replace Mulanje Central MP Kondwani Nankhumwa, both appeared before a business committee meeting in Lilongwe.
Meanwhile, a court battle awaits Navicha as a court order still recognizes Nankhumwa as Leader of Opposition in Parliament.
