Chisankho Watch hails MEC

Chisankho Watch, a consortium of four organisations; the Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP), the Public Affairs Committee (PAC), the Gender Justice Unit, and the Meeting Hub (mHub), have commended Malawi Electoral Commission for what they call promising start of the registration process.

Speaking during a press briefing in Lilongwe the coalition’s Board Chairperson, Bishop Gilford Matonga, said during the first phase of voter registration Chisankho Watch deployed observers to help monitor the proceedings.

On the challenges Matonga pointed out low turnout as well as some disability unfriendly voter registration locations.

He has since called on all stakeholders to play their role in civic educating the people about the elections while challenging political parties to desist from misinforming their people.

Among others, Chisankho watch aims at holding advocacy engagements with key stakeholders like MEC
