President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has arrived in Doha Qatar for the Fifth Least Developed Countries (LDCs) Conference.
On arrival, Dr Chakwera was welcomed by Malawi Envoy to the State of Qatar, Roy Kachale, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nancy Tembo, Minister of Natural Resources, Michael Usi, and Minister of Trade and Industry, Simplex Chithyola together with State of Qatar officials.
A tight programme for the conference of the LDCs and numerous bilateral meetings awaits the Malawi Head of State during the period he will be in Qatar.
Over 90 side events are to be held in this meeting. Delegates from Malawi will participate in different thematic capacities will from 4 to 9 March.
The fifth LDC Conference will put into action a 10-year programme of action for the LDCs after the Istanbul Action Plan which ran from 2011 to 2020.
Malawi has been chair for the LDCs for more than the expected three-year term because of the COVID-19 Pandemic restrictions that affected the meetings in the past three years.
