The stage is set for the CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA Qualifiers which will commence in Blantyre tomorrow.
The eight-team tournament, to be hosted at Mpira Stadium, will run from 15 to 24 August 2024, with Goshen City National Women’s champions Ascent Academy carrying Malawi’s flag.
The competition will kick off with a match between Herentals Queens and FC Ongos while Ascent Academy will make their debut against Young Buffaloes on Friday.
Only the top team from the qualifiers will secure a spot in the continental finals.
Reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns have automatically qualified.
This format mirrors the 2022 setup when Sundowns also qualified as holders, accompanied by Zambia’s Green Buffaloes.
Other participating teams are Herentals Queens FC (Zimbabwe), FC Ongos Ladies (Namibia), University of Western Cape (South Africa), Green Buffaloes (Zambia), Gaborone United Ladies (Botswana), UD Lichinga (Mozambique), and Young Buffaloes (Eswatini).
