Women entrepreneurs for Digital Financial Inclusion

Minister of Tourism, Vera Kamtukule, says the adoption of digital financial services is now a necessity that offers numerous benefits across all sectors, including tourism, which holds immense potential for Malawi.

Kamtukule has said this at the official opening of a Capacity Building Training Workshop for women entrepreneurs in Lilongwe.

“This is not only timely but essential as we seek to elevate our businesses, communities and ultimately our nation, through the power of digital financial services,” she said.

She highlighted that integrating digital financial services can significantly increase financial inclusion, especially for women and the youth, who often lead MSMEs.

Recent data shows that around 400 million adults in Africa, 60% of whom are women, remain financially excluded.

The workshop, organized by the COMESA Business Council (CBC), aims to address gaps and unlock business opportunities for small and medium enterprises in the COMESA region.
