Veteran broadcaster Nyokase Madise no more

The former Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) radio personality, who until her death was staying in Mzuzu, worked with MBC for 30 years.

She was the second woman to be employed at the station during its infancy.

She was the first woman from the country to be trained by the BBC Radio.

Born on 30 April 1939 at Ekwendeni, Mzimba in the area of Traditional  Authority  Mtwalo, Nyokase had seven children.

One of her sons, Sunduzwayo Madise, announced through his Facebook page that she died on Monday night.

“It is with a heavy heart that that I announce that our matriarch, mama Nyokase Madise (NyaChibambo) has gone home to the Lord this evening,” he wrote.

She worked with MBC from 1964 to 1994.
