Sports analysts tip Malawi Beach soccer to shuffle tactics

Sports analysts have pointed out that for Malawi to defeat Morocco in the semi-finals of the 2024 COSAFA Beach Soccer Tournament on Friday, they need to utilise swift players and build courage and confidence.

This follows Malawi’s impressive 7-2 victory over Seychelles at the South Beach Arena on Wednesday, which was a perfect response to their 5-1 loss against Saudi Arabia on Monday.

Speaking after the match, the team’s coach, Willy Kumilambe acknowledged that the team has some shortcomings.

“The boys lack some sort of experience…but I am very confident that we can go all the way,” he said.

Football pundit, Edwin Mbewe, has advised Kumilambe to instill a sense of self-belief in the players to maintain their consistency.

“Overall performance is good, we scored seven yesterday, however, Kumilambe has to look into his defence before going to the semis,” Mbewe said.

On the other hand, another analyst, Christopher Njeula, recommended that the technical panel should select players who are swift enough to dismantle Morocco.

“Malawi faces a tough match, but they need to prepare thoroughly,” Njeula said.

In the other semi-final match, Saudi Arabia will play against Mozambique. Mozambique finished second in Group B with six points, while Morocco topped the group with six points and a better goal difference.

The match between Saudi Arabia and Mozambique is also scheduled for Friday afternoon.
