Female athlete Asimenye Simwaka has qualified for the semifinals in the
100 metres race at the ongoing African Senior Athletics Championship in Cameroon after finishing third.
Simwaka clocked 11:51seconds, breaking her previous record of 11:55 seconds.
The short distance runner came third behind Ivorian Marie Smit and Nigerian Rosemary Chukwuma, who were first and second respectively.
Simwaka is expected to compete for a place in the final slot this afternoon.
The continental competetion acts as the 2024 Paris Olympic qualifiers to be hosted in France from 26th next month.
