SADC launches 2025–2030 Communications Strategy in Botswana

By Beatrice Juma

The 2025-2030 SADC Communications, Awareness and Visibility has been launched in Gaborone, Botswana.

SADC Deputy Executive Secretary responsible for regional integration, Angèle Makombo N’tumba, urged member states to enhance information dissemination and public understanding of SADC’s mandate, priorities and create platforms to reach the diverse audiences.

N’tumba said SADC achievements are remarkable; therefore, they need reinforcement of effective communication so that they do not go unnoticed.

She has further asked member states in the communication and information sector to work hand in hand with the secretariat to implement the strategy with purpose and passion.

Approved this year, the SADC council of ministries directed the secretariat to start its implementation, particularly with SADC national contact points, media coordinators and all relevant stakeholders.

Malawi is among the 16 member states participating with representatives from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Information.

The meeting will also induct key stakeholders on their roles and responsibilities in advancing development, and better understand how to communicate the same to their communities.
