As Christians celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Ntcheu North legislator Lymon Zimphondo called on religious leaders to discourage the tendency of attacking older persons.
Zimphondo was speaking at Mlanda CCAP Church in Ntcheu during a service marking the end of Easter.
He observed that older persons are facing a number of challenges, including harassment and accusations of practicing witchcraft.
Zimphondo said the church serves as an instrument of salvation.
Reverend Nehemiah Kanzanthu of the Church equally expressed concern over the decline of moral values in communities.
“As a church we have a task to care for these aged people because the Bible says in Ephesians Chapter 6 verse 1 and 2 that children must obey their parents,” he said.
