President Dr Lazarus Chakwera continues with his working visits in the Eastern Region this morning as he is set to visit Mlooka Irrigation Scheme in Zomba.
The scheme is part of the government’s initiatives aimed at reducing hunger.
Constructed in 2023, the 288.4 hectare scheme gets its water from shire river and about 720 farmers are expected to benefit from the programme.
The President will then proceed to Joho Trading Centre at Nsanama where he will switch on Malawi Rural Electrification Programme (MAREP 9).
Dr Chakwera will then appreciate ongoing construction works at Ntaja Health Centre in Machinga.
Dr Chakwera will conclude his tour with a visit to Paramount Chief Kawinga’s Nanyumbu Headquarters in Machinga District.
