Civil servants urged to adopt professionalism

Department of Human Resource Management and Development has urged public service officers to demonstrate discipline, integrity and commitment when working to improve service delivery in the country.

Principal Secretary in the department, Hilario Chimota, said this during the closing ceremony of an induction programme for professional and administrative officers from the department.

The training was organised by the Malawi School of Government Mpemba Campus in Blantyre.

Director General of the Malawi School of Government, Professor Lewis Baison Dzimbiri, said the effectiveness of government institutions depends largely on the people entrusted with responsibilities.

Professor Dzimbiri stressed that national transformation requires competent, ethical and motivated public servants who are committed to serving citizens.

One of the participants of the drill, Patson Lungu, said the knowledge and skills acquired during the induction programme will be put into good use to enhance better service delivery.

The 47 public service officers have been trained in the induction programme for 6 weeks.
