Lumbadzi Police in Lilongwe has rescued two elderly people, aged 71 and 85, after they were targeted by a mob, which was accusing them of witchcraft.
Spokesperson for Lumbadzi Police, Felix Kwinyani, said the incident occurred Thursday morning when the two were accused of bewitching a girl in Katola Village, Traditional Authority Chimutu in Lilongwe.
Kwinyani said the police are investigating the matter and has since urged community leaders to caution their members against accusing people of practicing witchcraft,which is an offence.
