Police promote peace among prison staff

Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Eastern Region, Gladson Chipumphula, has called on prison staff to foster love, unity, and peace both at work and in their homes.

Chipumphula made the call during a meeting with prison staff members at the Zomba Maximum Prison.

The Deputy commissioner said as law enforcers, it was paramount for them to foster peace, unity and love and not bring about disunity at work and in their homes.

“As the country commemorates 16 days of activitsim, we felt it necessary that we hold meetings with our fellow law enfocers and speak about the beauty of oneness,” he said.

Chipumphula also urged couples to refrain from gender-based violence, which he noted is a leading cause of divorces, deaths, and poor performance in the workplace.

Assistant Commissioner of Prisons and Zomba Prison Station Manager, Guston Malisye, commended the Malawi Police Service for the initiative, saying it would help strengthen peace among prison staff and their families.

Gladys Jamali, a participant and wife of a prison staff member, described the meeting as an eye-opener and a source of encouragement for the prison community.
