Temwa returns home with pomp

Malawi’s Iconic female Footballer Temwa Chawinga returned home today for a breather after a successful maiden season at her United States Kansas City football club.

Chawinga, popularly known as TC6, landed at Kamuzu International Airport Wednesday afternoon and proceeded to Bingu International Convention Center where she announced her partnership with Fresh Water Project International, championing the Water, Health & Hygiene Campaign.

Temwa says she is geared to channel her unstoppable drive to inspire Malawian youths to break barriers, dream bigger and build brighter futures.

Heidi Rickels, Executive Director at Fresh Water Project International, said Temwa’s resilience, ambition and leadership prompted them to engage her in their project.

Temwa’s 2024 achievements include: Winning the NWSL MVP & Golden Boot, being the first to score 20 goals in a season, being the first to score in 8 consecutive matches, being the first to reach 26 goal contributions in one season and being the first Malawian to win MVP & Golden Boot.

Among the dignatories were Adelaide Migogo, Womens Football president, officials from Ministry of Sports and Temwa’s parents.
