POC DELEGATION TAKES MAIDEN FLIGHT TO PAKISTAN

The Pakistan Overseas Community (POC) led by Chaudhry Karamat Ullah the President of Pakistan Overseas Community left for Addis Ababa to join the inaugural ceremony in Addis Ababa.

The POC delegation joined the inaugural direct flight from Ethiopia to Pakistan on Monday 8 May 2023.

According to Karamat the delegation will also meet with authorities at Ethiopian Airlines in Addis Ababa on special promotional fares from Africa to Pakistan, reduced cargo fares and new routes to Lahore and Islamabad.

Discussions and negotiations to have a direct flight from Africa to Pakistan started 3 years ago by the President of the POC, Chaudhry Karamat Ullah. According to Ullah, this is a great opportunity because flying from Ethiopia to Pakistan has been shortened to just 5 hours. He said previously the trip from Malawi to Pakistan used to take up to 40 hours due to several connecting flights which have been reduced to 10 hours only.

“This is a great opportunity for all passengers from across Africa who want to travel to Pakistan because the journey is now less hectic. This is quite an opportunity for people travelling on business or holiday,” observed Karamat.

The Area Manager for Ethiopian Airlines in Malawi, Theodros Mathemeselassie, recently noted that the resumption of the flight is very important for the large population of Pakistanis living across Africa. Selassie points out that Ethiopian Airlines has a vast network throughout the continent and this is a better opportunity for a direct commercial flight to Pakistan.
