One Stop Border Post almost triples revenue collections at Mchinji border

Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) says the introduction of One Stop Border Post at Mchinji border has not only eased transactions but also helped increase revenue collection from just over K1 billion per month to K3 billion each month.

According to MRA Deputy Station officer at the Border Post,

Mzilahowa

, the station now handles larger volumes of transactions per day.

The Mchinji/Mwami One Stop Border Post was launched by Malawi Presidents Dr Lazarus Chakwera together with his Zambian counterpart Hakainde Hichilema in December 2022.

The border post is part of the Southern Africa Trade and Connectivity project, whose aim is to among others help in facilitating the country’s trade with neighbouring countries. The project is a World bank funded initiative being implemented by various government agencies.
