Nomads back to winning ways

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers have bounced back from their humiliating defeat in the Blantyre Derby over the weekend, securing a 2-1 victory against Chitipa United.

The win was powered by second-half goals from Gaddie Chirwa and Wisdom Mpinganjira after they had conceded on the 47th minute when Chitipa’s Rajab Nyirenda found the back of the net.

For Chitipa United, the defeat still leaves them in danger of the chop because they have 19 points and are on 15th out of 16.

Wanderers are still seven points behind league leaders Silver Strikers, who defeated Mzuzu City Hammers 2-1 to have 54 points.

The Central Bankers also scored in the second half through Chinsinsi Maonga 62′ and Mark Fodya 79′.

The result has also not affected the Hammers much because they remain transfixed on 4th position with 40 points.

Karonga United played out a 0-0 draw against Mighty Tigers. United is still 5th with 37 points while Tigers are 12th with 28 points.

Meanwhile, Creck Sporting Club have dislodged Civil Service United on the 6th position after defeating them 3-1, courtesy of George Chaomba’s brace and Muhamad Sulumba’s 78th minute strike. The Servants scored their lone goal in the first-half, the dead-lock breaker, on the 35th through Damiano Kunje.

Both Lilongwe-based teams have 35 points but Creck is slightly superior with goal difference.

Mid-week TNM Super League action will return on Thursday as MAFCO will face the league anchors, Baka City, while FOMO will take on defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.
