Nine Malawians to study in Ireland under Irish Aid

Irish Embassy in Malawi has bid farewell to nine Malawians who have been awarded master’s degree scholarships to study in Ireland.

During the farewell ceremony in Lilongwe, Deputy Head of Mission for the Embassy Ronan Sweeney said this marks a significant milestone for the awardees as they will further their knowledge and skills in their respective fields.

He also highlighted that this year’s fellowship had seen an increased representation from partnered organisations, including a recipient from a district-level organisation, a thing he attributed to symbiotic ties with stakeholders in the country.

“These awards are a symbol of our powerful relationship. We understand the awardees are citizens that are already making a positive impact in their communities and we believe they will return to Malawi with enhanced skills and expertise to drive development and change,” he said.

The Irish scholarships operate on a nomination basis, where partnering organisations select their staff members for the opportunity to pursue higher education in Ireland.
