Farmers in the area of Senior Chief Mlolo in Nsanje have expressed satisfaction with the government for providing loans to farmers through the National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF).
Area Agriculture Stakeholders Panel Chairperson James Khisimisi made the remarks on Thursday, where he said for a long time farmers have been struggling to get enough yield due to a lack of farming equipment and resources.
He said people have been failing to realize better yield as they have been buying poor-quality seeds at the market because of its low price at the market adding that the loans have helped farmers to have enough capital to buy original seeds.
Nsanje North legislator Enock Chizuzu said the loans will empower farmers from the area to produce more as the majority of farmers from the Irrigation Schemes in his constituency have received the loans.
Stevie Chavi, field officer from the NEEF said they have disbursed over K 169 million in form of loans to farmers in the area of Traditional Authority Mlolo only.
