The Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) is rooting for early preparations for the Malawi Under 21 Netball Team ahead of the Gilbratar 2025 Netball World Youth Cup.
According to NAM General Secretary, Isaac Chimwala, the team needs to engage in test matches to ensure readiness for the tournament.
The global showpiece will take place from 19 to 28 September,2025.
Malawi, alongside South Africa and Zambia, will represent the African continent at the global event.
Despite finishing second behind South Africa in the continental qualifiers, the Baby Queens demonstrated strong potential.
Chimwala affirmed NAM’s commitment to providing necessary resources for the team, although they are currently in search of additional support.
During the qualifiers, Stella Matelezi and Shabelo Bengo emerged standout players for the Junior Queens.
However, the team faces another challenge as four key players; vice captain Bengo, captain Rellie Banda, centre Marietta Harrison, and wing defender Thokozani Makunganya will be ineligible due to age restrictions.
Similarly, reports from South Africa suggest that the Baby Proteas will also be without three players for the same reason.
