MUBAS champions research and innovation for Malawi 2063

The Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) has emphasised the crucial role of research and innovation in achieving the country’s development goals, as outlined in the Malawi 2063.

This was revealed during the closing ceremony of a week-long Research and Innovation Conference hosted by MUBAS.

Ishmael Cosam, Deputy Vice Chancellor of MUBAS stressed the need for increased investment in research and innovation to make Malawi competitive globally.

He noted that the conference showcased the country’s vibrant researchers and innovators, who can drive progress through their work.

MUBAS has committed K450 million to support various research and innovation activities, demonstrating its dedication to fostering a culture of innovation.

Robert Suya, a student from the School of Engineering at MUBAS, was awarded Researcher of the Year and received a prize of K500,000.

The conference marks the second research and innovation gathering hosted by MUBAS since its delinking from the University of Malawi in 2021.
