MP donates relief maize in Likoma

Member of Parliament (MP) for Likoma, Ashems Songwe, has donated relief maize to 200 vulnerable households worth K2 million in Likoma District.

Songwe said the aim of the donation is to assist families who are struggling to buy food in Likoma and Chizumulu Islands, pointing out that church leaders will carry out the distribution exercise.

He was hopeful that the government will supply maize to the most vulnerable people by the end of this month.

Chairperson for the District Aids Interface Committee as well as Pastors Fraternal, Bishop Robert Likangala, said he was overwhelmed with the donation which will help relieve hunger in many families in the district.
