Mobile App for farmers launched

Seed Co has launched a first of its kind Seedney Mobile Application in Malawi, seeking to provide agricultural information and solutions to farmers at their fingertip.

Speaking during the launch in Lilongwe, the company’s Head of Commercial, Dennis Mdzalimbo, said the application provides comprehensive information on fertilizer usage, amount of seeds to be planted per acre, disease and pest control.

Mdzalimbo said initially, farmers were relying on agricultural extension workers to provide them with such information.

He added that if farmers adopt the technology, achieving food security will be easy since they will be following best farming practices.

The Seedney Application was first introduced in Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Zambia and Kenya.
