District Programmes Officer (DPO) for National Initiative for Civic Education (NICE) for Likoma District, Blessings Mahata, has advised men to refrain from shunning NICE meetings in Likoma.
Mahata said this on Monday in Likoma during the District Advisory Forum (DAF) meeting which was aimed at promoting work efficiency among its members in the district.
In addition, he said inefficiencies compromise quality community projects since monitoring mechanisms has been left in the hands of few individuals who may not be able to deliver.
Mahata said to reverse the trend, there is need for adequate civic education on mindset change for people to appreciate the need to participate in matters that need their attention.
Chairperson for DAF in Likoma, Innocencia Mwaithula, said that, she will ensure that men are fully participating in community meetings saying this will help to enhance inclusiveness and effectiveness of civic education and community development initiatives.
