Maranatha Academy tops university selection

The National Council of Higher Education (NCHE) has released the university selection list for the academic year 2023/24, with Maranatha Private Academy leading other institutions by sending 246 students to various universities.

Managing Director of Maranatha Academy, Ernest Kaonga, shared his joy with MBC Digital over the school’s remarkable achievement.

“We want to thank the parents who trusted us with their children’s future because this is no mean achievement,” Kaonga remarked.

He continued, “To our students, who will always be part of the story and history of Maranatha Schools, we are so proud of your achievement and we wish you the best as you take the next big step in your lives.”

Data at our disposal indicate equally good performances from other secondary schools, with notable numbers of students gaining university admissions: Dedza Secondary School (128), Bakhita Girls (116), Zomba Catholic (80), St Marys Karonga (81), Atsikana Paulendo (67), Mary Mount (106), and Marist (70), among others.

The NCHE reported that out of the 19,250 applications received nationwide, a total of 9,226 students have been selected to continue their education at various public universities.

This year’s selection underscores the commitment and excellence of Malawi’s educational institutions in preparing students for higher education.
