Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) in Lilongwe is in dire need of anti–malarial drugs, as the disease burden of malaria and other diarrhea complications has increased in the rainy season.
According to the Nursing Administrator at KCH, Dorica Kambuku, the hospital serves over 1000 patients per day, most of whom present malaria and diarrhea symptoms.
She made the remarks when a pharmaceutical company, Bliss GVS, donated assorted drugs worth K30 million.
“ The situation calls for more anti–malarial drugs. And thank government for taking a proactive role in addressing the situation through regular supplies, but the government alone cannot manage hence we ask for more well wishers to help,” said Kambuku.

She further commended government for its unwavering support towards providing essential drugs in all public hospitals across the country.
Marketing Representative for Bliss GVS, Gift Dzingomvera, said the company realizes the need to plough back to the community.
“ Our priority is the well being of Malawians whom we serve, hence we continue complimenting the government through easing drug shortages,” said Dzingomvera
The company has previously made similar donations to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, Phalombe and other hospitals in the Southern Region.
