Kamwendo sees motivation in Creck dismissal

Immediate past Creck Sporting Club coach Joseph Kamwendo says his dismissal serves as motivation for his future endeavours in football management.

Kamwendo has been sacked by Creck Sporting, along with his assistant coach Abel Mkandawire and strikers’ trainer Chiukepo Msowoya, following a disciplinary hearing held last Friday.

Harry Saidi, who was appointed caretaker coach two weeks ago after Kamwendo’s suspension, remains in charge.

“I thank the club patron, Apostle Clifford Kawinga, and the Executive Committee for giving me this opportunity to lead the team. I need to move forward, and this is a motivation for me to work harder next time,” Kamwendo said.

Club General Secretary Aaron Mtaya said the search for a new head coach has already begun.

Meanwhile, speculations have linked Creck Sporting Club with former Malawi National Football Team coach Ernest Mtawali, but Mtaya has dismissed the reports as mere rumours.

Kamwendo’s tenure at Creck has seen the team sit 11th on the log table, accumulating 8 points from 7 matches, 2 wins, 2 draws, and 3 losses.

The team has managed to score only five goals while conceding nine.

More than 10 new players were brought in under him, including National Team regular goalkeeper Brighton Munthali, Miracle Gabeya, Hassan Hussein, Isaac Msiska and Kondwani Chilembwe, among others.

Creck has since become the second TNM Super League team to part ways with their head coach this season, following Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos, who replaced Andrew Bunya with Alex Ngwira.
