JUDGES TO RETIRE AT 70

The retirement age for judges has been adjusted from 65 to 70.

This follows an Amendment of the Courts Act by Parliament on Tuesday.

Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Titus Mvalo, said in a presentation of the bill in Parliament that the adjustment would allow the judiciary to have more expertise and enhance efficiency in the delivery of Justice in the country.

The bill was widely supported by legislators from both government and opposition benches.
