A renowned social runners group from Lilongwe, Joggers On the Move (JOM), has installed and handed over a 3KV solar system to Matekenya Health Centre in Dowa.
Earlier in August this year, JOM held the 2024 edition of their trademark marathon race in Dowa, to raise funds for the purchase and installation of a solar system at Matekenya Health Centre.
According Dowa District Medical Officer, Dr Ronald Mhango, despite the health centre registering close to 80 maternity patients every month, it has been running without electricity.
JOM’s Deputy Publicity Secretary, Chisomo Kalumula, urged other stakeholders to join and use their resources to reach out to health centres in remote areas.
