Minister of Social Welfare, Jean Sendeza, has tipped the beneficiaries of the Social Cash Transfer programme to engage in economic activities that can transform their lives.
Sendeza was speaking at Mphete Primary School in Traditional Authority Kanduku in Mwanza District when she officially launched the Lean Season Response Cash Transfer Programme.
She told beneficiaries to consider investing some of the money in Village Banks to reap benefits and urged men not to waste all their money on the deadly ‘Ambuye Tengeni’ liquor.
Under the European Union-funded initiative, households will each receive K200,000 to cover four months and about 8,000 households in the district are expected to benefit from the programme.
