Malawi will soon start utilising its High Performance Computer Facility which will allow research data to be stored and analysed quickly.
Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Chikondano Mussa disclosed this at the opening of a two-day Big Data and Data Analytics Training at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences – (MUBAS).
Mussa said Malawi is among two countries in the SADC Region which has the facility. However, there was a need for universities, researchers, and technocrats to familiarise themselves with the use of the resource.
Mussa disclosed that Malawi could also make money with the facility as other countries have expressed interest in utilising it.
A team of experts from Armenia is currently in the country to train IT experts, academicians, researchers and technocrats from the country’s institutions of higher learning.
The High-Performance Computer Facility is being housed at the Malawi Research and Education Network – MAREN.
