Green Climate Fund (GCF) has approved $52.3 million dollars ( approximately K91 billion) to support Malawi’s adaptation and resilient project.
Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) will implement the project, which seeks to benefit more than half a million people over a six-year period.
The project is expected to help the country cope with the devastating effects of climate change and boost the country’s long-term food security.
The GCF Board announced the approval today in Rome, Italy.
Minister of Finance Simplex Chithyola Banda and Secretary to the Treasury Betchani Tchereni have both praised President Dr Lazarus Chakwera’s efforts to rope in more partners to fight climate change and support affected vulnerable Malawians.
