Ministry of Education has commended the positive impact of the School Leadership Programme (SLP), in strengthening the management of primary schools across the country.
Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mangani Katundu made the remarks in Dedza, where he inspected Kapalamula and Milonde primary schools to appreciate the progress of the construction of the school block being constructed under the MERP project.
According to Katundu, the leadership program has enabled teachers to find ways of using locally available resources for teaching numeracy and languages, support learners to return to school after dropping out and manage the school construction project with the available resources, among other managerial skills they have acquired.
Headteacher of Kapalamula Primary School, Tabitha Sukasuka, highlighted that the programme has enabled teachers to explore ways to improve learner performance.
Sukasuka added that the training has led to a significant improvement in the school’s pass rate, which increased from 94 percent to 98 percent this year.
