President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has reiterated the government’s commitment to revitalising the agricultural sector through irrigation and improving people’s livelihoods.
Dr Chakwera was speaking during a brief stopover at Namwera in Mangochi District where he is on a tour of duty.
While acknowledging the challenges faced by the agricultural sector due to erratic rainfall patterns and natural calamities, President Chakwera re-assured the residents of Mangochi that his administration will prioritise food security for the district.
Senior Chief Jalasi commended the President for his dedication to the development of Mangochi District and the rest of the country.
Later, President Chakwera is expected to inspect the Finance and Council Chamber offices, as well as the construction of the Monkeybay – Cape Maclear carriage way.
