Govt commits to improve children’s welfare

Deputy Minister of Gender Halima Daudi has pledged the government’s commitment to ensure children in the country have access to education, health and social protection services.

Daudi said this as she was delivering her remarks at the launch of the National Children’s Manifesto in Lilongwe.

She said that children being at the centre of policy formulation is crucial in achieving the Malawi 2063 agenda and building a brighter future for the nation.

Director of Operations at World Vision Malawi, Charles Chimombo, hailed the establishment of the manifesto, describing it as an important step in ensuring children are protected from all forms of abuse.

Speaker of the National Children’s Parliament, Shekinah Galupananji, called on all stakeholders to seriously work on the provisions of the manifesto.

Galupananji said the manifesto has the possibility of uplifting them as the leaders of today and tomorrow.

Representatives from different political parties also pledged to align their campaign manifestos with the launched strategy.
