LCDM distributes 600 goats to households in Neno

Link Community Development Malawi (LCDM) through its Climate Just Communities project has distributed 600 goats to 120 households in Neno district on a pass on initiative aimed at improving climate justice and resilience for smallholder farmers.

LCDM Project Manager, Clement Mwazambumba said each household has received 5 goats and the farmers will pass on the offspring to other farmers within the group which will then create a self-sustaining cycle of empowerment and resilience.

Director of Planning and Development for Neno, Charles Lomoni said the goat pass on initiative will greatly improve the livelihood of local farmers as they will benefit from the economic value of goats through milk, manure and potential sales.

One of the beneficiaries from Manyenje Village in the area of Traditional Authority Symon Mary White expressed excitement and said this programme will help her make enough savings which will be used to pay school fees for her children who will soon be going to secondary school.
