Dynamos hold Silver, Bullets shoot down Chitipa

Dedza Dynamos have halted Silver Strikers’ quest to reclaim the TNM Super League’s top spot after a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Dedza Stadium.

The hosts took the lead through Victor Lungu’s goal in the 39th minute and maintained their advantage until the 75th minute when Silver Strikers’ Charles Chipala, formerly of Dedza, restored parity.

Dedza remains in 14th place with two points on the league table.

Coach Andrew Bunya expressed disappointment at the missed opportunity to collect full points.

Silver, currently in second place, are tied on points with leaders Mighty Wanderers, each with seven points and identical goal differences.

Silver Strikers’ coach, Peter Mponda, hailed his team’s performance, particularly their second-half resurgence following tactical adjustments.

Defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets secured their first win of the 2024 TNM Super League season, defeating Chitipa United 3-0 at Karonga Stadium.

Babatunde Adepoju opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, followed by Ephraim Kondowe in the 78th minute and Patrick Mwaungulu sealed the victory in the 81st minute.

With this victory, the Bullets have climbed to sixth place on the league table with five points from three matches, level with Kamuzu Barracks in fifth place, separated only by goal difference.

Bullets coach, Calisto Pasuwa, voiced concern over the poor pitch at the stadium, which he believes could potentially endanger players.

Chitipa United Assistant Coach, Elvis Kafoteka, lamented what he called a painful defeat, attributing it to players’ failure to execute their training tactics.

Chitipa United has now dropped to 11th place with three points from three matches.

Mighty Tigers secured a 1-0 victory over Mzuzu Hammers, with Bright Ntondagowa scoring in the 70th minute, propelling them to 7th place with four points from three matches.

Despite the loss, Mzuzu Hammers maintain their position in 4th place with six points.

Bangwe All Stars and Karonga United played out a 1-1 draw, with Aubrey Maloya converting a penalty kick for Bangwe in the 30th minute, before Saulosi Moyo equalized for Karonga in the 85th minute.

League action resumes on Tuesday as Bullets take on Baka City at Kamuzu Stadium.
