Education Ministry lauds World Relief for promoting technical education

The Ministry of Education has commended World Relief Malawi for supporting government’s efforts of promoting vocational skills development among youths in Malawi.

Director of Higher Education in the ministry, Levis Eneya, made the remarks at Mbidzi Village in the area of Senior Chief Kaphuka during the presentation of vocational education certificates to 229 graduates from Chingoni Technical College on Thursday.

Eneya said the country requires skilled workmanship for the realisation of the Agenda 2063.

World Relief Malawi’s Country Director, Matilda Chirwa, noted that vocational education training might improve living conditions of youths.

“With financial support from Switzerland and Netherlands, we conducted the training. In the first cohort, we had 100 youths while from 2023 to 2024, we have trained 229 students with tool kits. We expected them to continue sharpening their skills,” Chirwa said.

World Relief Malawi ventured into vocational education in 2017 during the implementation of food security in Dedza.
