Culture can help achieve Malawi 2063

President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has described culture as a milestone in promoting peace and unity in the country, which is key to achieving the Malawi 2063.

Dr Chakwera made the remarks at this year’s Umthetho Cultural Festival celebrations, hosted by the Ngoni people of Mzimba under Inkosi ya Makhosi M’mbelwa V. He described the festival as an important event in addressing certain social challenges that the country is going through.

The Malawi leader stressed that embracing different cultural beliefs promotes commonality, a development that helps people of different cultural backgrounds to work harmoniously.

Inkosi ya Makhosi M’mbelwa V hailed Dr Chakwera for his commitment to attending different cultural festivals within the nation, describing it as a demonstration of servant leadership and love for his people.

This year’s event was unique as it coincided with the 10th anniversary of Inkosi ya Makhosi M’mbelwa V’s reign.

In addition to King Misuzulu ka Zwelithini’s wife, Her Royal Highness Queen Nomzamo Kamyeni from South Africa, who was delegated by King Misuzulu, the meeting was attended by several notable dignitaries.

These included Inkosi ya Makhosi Zulu Gama of Songea in Tanzania, His Majesty Inkosi ya Makhosi Mpezeni IV from Zambia, and Paramount Chief Kyungu of Karonga and Chitipa.

Other dignitaries from Zimbabwe and Kenya, as well as Malawian government officials, were also present.
