Church of Scotland Moderator urges CCAP to embrace unity for growth

Rev Dr Shaw Paterson, Moderator of the Church of Scotland’s General Assembly, has advised the CCAP Church in Malawi to prioritize unity for the sake of growth and progress.

Paterson said this in Lilongwe during the groundbreaking ceremony for the CCAP General Assembly’s new church complex in Area 18.

Paterson said unity is key and the construction project is proof of collective effort.

Rev Bizwick Nkhoma, Moderator of the CCAP General Assembly, acknowledged the church’s past challenges, but expressed optimism about the current unity and its potential for driving progress.

The CCAP’s history dates back to 1911, when the Livingstonia and Blantyre Synods attempted to merge, but were thwarted by World War I. The union finally materialized on September 17, 1924.
