Chinese enterprises donates 400 bags of maize flour to DoDMA

China Enterprises Malawi Chamber of Commerce has donated 400 bags of maize flour worth K10 million to the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA).

The donation is in response to President Chakwera’s declaration of state of disaster in 23 districts that were affected by El Niño weather phenomenon.

With a humanitarian response requiring about $446.74 million, Minister of Information and Digitalisation, Moses Kunkuyu, said there is a resource gap of $348.14 million and called for more support in cash to adequately assist the affected families.

Kunkuyu also condemned abuse of relief items and encouraged all stakeholders to ensure prudence and accountability in the distribution of the same to intended beneficiaries.

Vice Chairperson of the China Enterprises Malawi Chamber, Gu Mu said the donation symbolises their solidarity with the government of Malawi and its citizens in times of hardships.
