Minister of Local Government, Unity and Culture is in Ndirande township in Blantyre where he is cheering shop owners whose merchandise perished in a fire that gutted part of the main market.
He is accompanied by his deputy, Owen Chomanika.
The minister says he has spoken with NEEF to provide soft loans to affected vendors to restart their businesses.
He has also donated some cash to the vendors.
Currently, Chimwendo-Banda and Chomanika are addressing the vendors in a nearby hall after visiting the market.
